Everyone means well, but not everyone can be on the same page, nor wants to be. We're human, and our undisciplined need for people to hear what we have to say takes priority. The problem being, is that everyone is talking and very few are listening, thus my point, too many smarts complicates simple, especially concerning our current global crisis with maybe 20% of its population trying to report, justify, explain, or make sense of a simple matter, now blown way out of proportion, with too few listening.
Many years ago, shortly after becoming a Christian, James 1:19 was one of the first scriptures that made me go, Hmmm!
James 1:19 teaches "19 You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry."
The key word here is 'LISTEN' - for if we speak before listening, when the latter may have given good reason to avoid speaking, which in turn would have prevented the need to get angry, does this not make perfect sense? We're all guilty of this, but are we learning from our mistakes, or do we just continue talking without listening?
From personal experience, at home, work, in the community, and through counselling opportunities, the latter holds true majority of the time, including leadership/management.

James 1:19 hit me like a ton of bricks right out of the gate becoming a Christian because of the power of this one verse alone. Prior to this, never after, I had been allowing the world to teach me, and suddenly, I was given this nugget from the living word of the living God, of how man takes what God has divinely provided, and turns and twists it as though his own.
For example, author Stephen Covey, in his book, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, pinned the thought 'Seek first to understand, then to be understood." In other words listen before you speak - which in turn is a slant on what God teaches in James 1:19 - because otherwise anger and ego will infest the conversation before anyone or anything is understood, and nothing will ever get accomplished; walls go up and division remains.
Or man's biggest one - 'TWO EARS ONE MOUTH' [LISTEN TWICE AS MUCH AS YOU SPEAK] really? And how's that working for us in a world that follows man's advice rather than God's?
Thing is, man's advice, as with man's religion (human accomplishment), HAS NO STAYING POWER; something created cannot be wiser than its Creator (Divine Accomplishment)?
Jesus teaches in Luke 6:40 "Students are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher."
This is the point of the path we should be following, of Christ, and not of self with Proverbs 3:5-6 teaching us "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take."
From the book 'Jesus Christ Living God - How & Why We Must Connect,' on page 15, we are shown a comparison of World's View vs God's View that states:
The world teaches, “do unto others before they do unto you … and God teaches in Luke 6:31, “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”
The world says greatness is about who’s on top … and Jesus teaches, greatness is the one who serves the best…Luke 22:26 “But among you, those who are the greatest should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant.
While the world is built on hatred, jealousy, gossip, selfish ambition, greed and violence…God builds on, “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” Galatians 5:22,23.
Staying power means - inerrant - infallible - irrefutable - perfect - absolute ... and what is created, man, or his own figments of wild imagination are not and cannot be any of these.
Going back to my post title 'Too many smarts complicates simple,' I'm thinking SIMPLE as in good or evil ... heaven or hell ... Jesus or man ... human accomplishment or divine accomplishment - but instead we have seriously complicated a simple matter, life as a whole, by conjuring up our own smorgasbord of answers and solutions, while leaving God out of the whole equation; BUT HAVE WE BEEN BRAINWASHED INTO THIS POSITION?
The answer to that question is YES ... which I address in many of my posts - yet we are still without excuse.
For clarity, shared often to help make a point to avoid confusion, Jesus tells us in Matthew 12:30 "Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me." In other words - there are only two choices in life; good or evil ... heaven or hell ... Jesus or man ... human accomplishment or divine accomplishment, AND Jesus stands alone, while everything else stands against Him, including good persons.
