Three such powerful words, 'It Is Finished,' are the foreknowledge of the ONE who spoke what was not, as though it were, and so it became the world as we know it. The ONE who is, who was, and will come again. The Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
Please bear with me as truth is distinguished from evil!
The significance of - 'It is finished,' begins to make better sense alongside the defined words, predestine or predestinate - something evil, man's religion cannot deliver.
PREDESTINE - To decree beforehand; to foreordain.
PREDESTINATE - Predestinated; foreordained. To predetermine or foreordain; to appoint or ordain beforehand by an unchangeable purpose *** as in God knowing all things before they happen with assurance His word will never fail us.
For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. Romans 8:29.
God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. Ephesians 1:5.
In other words, if you're a Christian, before the world was spoken into being, God knew you inside and out, from start to finish, conception to birth, life to death.
If you're not a Christian, considering you're reading this, chances are you too are predestined, or more specifically, soon to know Jesus as your Savior.
Jesus died for all, Christian and non-Christian, and salvation is a free gift, as in free will, and with any gift, all we need do is accept it. "If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved."
The Death of Jesus on the cross identifies His divine and globally renowned words, 'It is Finished' in John 19:28-30
28 Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture he said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. 30 When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
The book of REVELATION - end times prophecy ...
... written by John the Apostle, around A.D. 95, from the Island of Patmos, references two key scriptures pertaining to 'It is finished.'
Revelation 16:17 (NLT) Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air. And a mighty shout came from the throne in the Temple, saying, “It is finished!”
Revelation 21:6 (NLT) And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life.
The book of Acts, or Acts of the Apostles ...
... written by Luke, an associate of Paul (Saul/Paul of Tarsus), between A.D. 63 and 70, shares with us eye witness testimonies of those closest to Jesus, His life, crucifixion, and resurrection that speaks volumes to the Christian and the world.
Acts 2:32 (NLT) “God raised Jesus from the dead, and we are all witnesses of this.
Acts 3:15 (NLT) You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. And we are witnesses of this fact!
Acts 5:32 (NLT) We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.”
Acts 10:39 (NLT) “And we apostles are witnesses of all he did throughout Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a cross.
And from Peter the Apostle, 1 Peter written around A.D. 63 and 2 Peter A.D. 67, he shares with us the profound eye witness testimony of many who experienced the majestic splendor of Jesus Christ Living God, Himself, the promised Messiah and Savior of the world, in the flesh.
2 Peter 1:16-21 tells us:
16 For we were not making up clever stories when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes
17 when he received honor and glory from God the Father. The voice from the majestic glory of God said to him, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”
18 We ourselves heard that voice from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.
19 Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts.
20 Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding,
21 or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.
So, what is all this saying?
Personally speaking for the benefit of all who read this, bringing it together as of December 06, 2022 at 1230hrs, I must confess, it could easily top the lowest time in my sixty-four years and four months of life - and yet not to be mistaken as in without hope, because that is what faith is, Christ within, (Holy Spirit/Advocate/Comforter) never leaving us alone.
As with the synopsis of the book of Revelation above, when one knows the end of the story, how it all ends, literally, world and self, it carries you through the lonely and lowest of times, for which none of us are exempt. Evil is always about us to steal, kill, and destroy all hope, seeking souls to devour, and yet we can resist him and he must flee.
If we can know the Holy Bible to be long proven as inerrant and infallible - that God cannot nor would not lie, and the likes of Mark 11:24 tells us "I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours," or Matthew 17:20 "I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible," why do we worry?
Having questions is of the norm, for we will not know all things until our own glory, death and resurrection.
Having doubts is another story, being the devil attempting to steal our hope, belief and trust, for that is what he lives to do. Jesus tells us in Luke 12:25 "Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?"
In Matthew 6:25-26 He also teaches "That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?"
So, the significance of - 'It is Finished,' is nothing shy of profound truth disclosed and available to all, of every tribe and people and language and nation on planet earth.
What do I mean, as in, the lowest time of my sixty-four years of life?
Disappointment in my fellowman, more so the Christian who should, but clearly does not know different, fallen as much prey to the PlanDemic as the world who does not know the truth that sets us free. And is the Christian demonstrating freedom, trust in Christ, if they have chosen to live in fear (vaxxed/following demonic mandates), and not by faith - when we are invincible in Christ, considering these five scriptures alone - 1 Peter 2:24 | Matthew 8:17 | Psalm 91 - and being His masterpiece and His prized possession?
