For the record, considering no one, anywhere, has ever, nor ever will, prove the Holy Bible errant and fallible, as with man's religions - perhaps we should hear what God has to say, contrary to how the world has been convinced by way of crafty manipulation and twisted psychology, in regards to disciplining, or rather, NOT disciplining our children.
Jesus, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3) says it this way:
Proverbs 13:24 teaches, "Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them."
Proverbs 22:6 teaches, "Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it."
Proverbs 22:15 teaches, "A youngster’s heart is filled with foolishness, but physical discipline will drive it far away."
Proverbs 23:13-14 teaches, "Don’t fail to discipline your children. The rod of punishment won’t kill them. Physical discipline may well save them from death."
Fritz Chery from BibleReasons.com says, "Nowhere in Scripture does it condone child abuse, but it does recommend disciplining our children. A little spanking wouldn’t hurt. It’s meant to teach children right from wrong. If you don’t discipline your child, there's a much higher chance that they will grow up to be disobedient, thinking they can do whatever they want. Spanking is done out of love."
Proverbs 19:18 teaches, "Discipline your children while there is hope. Otherwise you will ruin their lives."
Ephesians 6:4 teaches, "Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord."
Billy Sunday was quoted as saying, "Some homes need a hickory switch a good deal more than they do a piano."
Billy Graham was quoted as saying, "A child who is allowed to be disrespectful to his parents will not have true respect for anyone.”
James Dobson was quoted as saying, “Loving discipline encourages a child to respect other people and live as a responsible, constructive citizen."
What are some benefits of being disciplined, as a child or adult?
Hebrews 12:10-11 teaches, "For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness. No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way."
Proverbs 29:15 teaches, "To discipline a child produces wisdom, but a mother is disgraced by an undisciplined child."
Proverbs 20:30 teaches, "Physical punishment cleanses away evil; such discipline purifies the heart."
Proverbs 29:17 teaches, "Discipline your children, and they will give you peace of mind and will make your heart glad."
God puts His all encompassing form of discipline this way!
2 Timothy 3:16 teaches, "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right."
Hebrews 12:6-7 teaches, "For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child. As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father," - (Emphasis added), until the last 25-30 years?
Deuteronomy 8:5 teaches, "Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good."
Proverbs 1:7 teaches, "Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline."
A couple reminders!
1 Corinthians 16:14 teaches, "And do everything with love."
Proverbs 17:25 teaches, "Foolish children bring grief to their father and bitterness to the one who gave them birth."
Worth noting 1 Corinthians 13:11 teaches, "When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things" ... yet more and more adults today, for lack of a good and well intended spanking, as a reminder to behave, act more like children than adults.
A miniscule of evidence below as to why a good spanking, that won't kill your child, is the best medicine for them because you love them.
World's View/God's View
The world teaches, “do unto others before they do unto you … and God teaches in Luke 6:31, “Do to others as you would like them to do to you.”
The world says greatness is about who’s on top … and Jesus teaches, greatness is the one who serves the best…Luke 22:26 “But among you it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant."
While the world is built on hatred, jealousy, gossip, selfish ambition, greed and violence…God builds on, “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” Galatians 5:22,23
Does Evil Exist?
If “evil” doesn’t exist, WHY, ever since Madeline Murray O’Hare (who was found murdered), insisted and achieved at having prayer removed from our school systems – or another adding we better not read the Bible in schools, (the book that teaches we shall not kill, shall not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself), have schools and the entire education system become havens for bullying, shooting rampages, gossip, and man’s religion, while removing the entire Judeo-Christian heritage – the only ‘faith/religion’ to support itself as ‘DIVINE?’
If “evil” doesn’t exist, WHY is it that ever since Dr. Benjamin Spock who headed up the, “We shouldn’t spank our children when they misbehave,” campaign, do we have record high, low self-esteem and suicides among our teens? (Dr. Spock’s son committed suicide) … Proverbs 23:13 says: “Don’t fail to discipline your children. The rod of punishment won’t kill them.”
If “evil” doesn’t exist, WHY is it that the dignity and privacy of our children has been replaced by ‘nude photos’ (Child Pornography), sent via the Internet and magazines and recognized not too far back, by the British Columbia Canada Government, as ‘ART’?
